Borrowing Privileges

- Circulating Books

OU-Tulsa students, residents, staff, and faculty may borrow books from the Library. Checkout is usually for three months. Books may be renewed once, unless they have been requested by another patron. Textbooks for medical school rotations may be checked out for the length of the rotation. There is generally no limit on the number of books OU-Tulsa affiliates may check out.
No items checked out at the Schusterman Library will be automatically renewed. The patron must specifically request a renewal. This applies to books as well as interlibrary loan items.
- Leisure Reading

The Library has a small collection of popular fiction and non-fiction books for general reading. Checkout period is four weeks, with one renewal.
- Reserve Books

These materials check out for three days. If the item has not been requested by another library user, it can be renewed once for an additional three days.
- Technology and Board Games

Technology items and board games may be checked out to OU-Tulsa students, residents, staff, and faculty for one week. Items may be renewed for one additional week.
Fees for overdue technology and game items will begin to accrue on the third day the item is overdue. These include a non-refundable $25 Lost Item Processing Fee plus the replacement cost of the item. The replacement cost only will be waived upon return of the item. At seven days overdue, an invoice for the total amount owed will be charged to the patron's bursar account if the patron is a Norman affiliate. If the patron is an HSC affiliate, a block will be placed on the patron's registrar account.

The Library also offers borrowing privileges to OU-Tulsa retirees, current members of the Tulsa County Medical Society, and affiliates of OK-Share participating libraries upon presentation of a valid OK-Share card. A limit of four circulating books may be borrowed at one. The checkout period is two weeks, with one renewal.
Guests are welcome to use OU-Tulsa books and journals inside the Library during our regular operating hours. Appointments for research consultations and review of electronic articles may be scheduled with our librarians. Mediated searches and document delivery services have attached fees.
