Hello and welcome to the public library resource page.  If you have updates or suggestions for content, please contact me.  As a solo practitioner in a public service area, it’s great to have you as a colleague.

Do you provide medical information at your reference desk? Do you wish you had better skills in this area or understood the ethical considerations in reference services? The National Network of Libraries of Medicine has a resource guide of consumer health topics for public librarians.  Also, MHL provides face-to-face classes for staff development and training.  Call or email me today for more information.

The Oklahoma Library Association‘s annual meeting is in Tulsa this year; dates are March 30th through April 1st.  There will be a pre-conference workshop on Wednesday for “Dealing with Mentally Ill Patrons,” sponsored by the Public Libraries Division.  Please consider attending both the instruction session and the panel discussion to follow.  As Oklahoma cuts funding for mental health services, this issue will become increasingly challenging.
