Is healthy eating one of your goals for 2016?  Wondering which diet plan is best for you?  Health experts at U. S. News and World Report ranked 38 of the most popular trends according to their nutrition, safety, simplicity, and ability to achieve healthy weight goals.  The winner?  For the sixth year in a row, drum roll please………….  It’s called the DASH Diet.  Originally created to help lower blood pressure, DASH has been proven to lower cholesterol, manage diabetes, and encourage weight loss.  The strategy is simple: eat 3 regular meals and 2 to 3 snacks every day.  Create a plate that features vegetables.  Replace refined sugar and salty snacks with fruit, low-fat dairy, and healthy nuts such as almonds or walnuts.  Read more about DASH here or visit dashdiet.org.  You can also borrow a book from your local library to read more about DASH.
